Title: Issue exporting SMD model, not finding textures
Post by: Eleryn on November 11, 2013, 12:19:06 AM
Hey.

Historically, I've used Cannonfodder's SMD exporter to make my models. Recently I've switched over to 3ds 2014, which doesn't work with his plugin. So I've been trying to use wallworm as a replacement.

However, it seems that when I export my model like I used to, using the SMD exporter, within hammer it's the missing texture checkerboard. I've checked my paths, my materials are set correctly...The only thing I can think it is the exporter screwing it up somehow.

My question is how does the SMD exporter in wallworm tools decide what VMT name to give to the model?

Wall Worm does not do materials like the old exporters by default.

Wall Worm, by default, uses the Material name as the VMT name.

Also, the bitmap node name (in the material editor) is the output path of the VTF files.

This is assuming your global settings do not have the Legacy VTF/ Material options. I suggest you do not use the legacy options as they invalidate many core WW functions/assumptions.

I need to update some of the docs when I get time. Here are some resources:
